  • low GWP, ozone depletion potential (ODP)
  • H-containing
    • reduces FC stability--easier to handle effluent
    • H scavenges F
    • H has been shown to increase deposition rates in other processes
  • Readily available
  • Non-toxic, flammable

• Alternate monomers

  • CF2N2, CF2=CF2 ? explosive
  • CF2Br2, CF2HBr ? Br increases ?
  • CF2Cl2 ? CFC, high ODP
  • CF3H ? HFC, but high GWP
  • CF2H2 ? HFC, low GWP, ODP = 0
  • CHF2CHF2 ? HFC, low GWP, ODP = 0
  • CF2HCl ? CFC, low GWP, ODP = 0.05
